Started decades ago.
TC did a base inspection of my school back in the mid eighties.
The inspector informed me there was no " Exit " signs on the doors of my Cessna 150.
I was dumbfounded and thought he was joking, but no he was serious because they wrote me a letter demanding I get exit signs made and attached to the insides of the doors.
When I sent them a letter advising them that I had complied I also told them that I thought their idea was so innovative I had a set made for my pickup truck in case one of their instructors got in the truck and hoped they approved of my foresight.
They went ballistic and almost had a heart attack claiming I was being disrespectful..... well they got that part right.
The dumbing down of aviation.

It's a trend of the times. The dumbing down of everything. When I got into computing it was as a hobbyist. One had to actually learn a bit about hardware and software. Now the majority of users just point and click after pushing the "on" button. Driverless cars, pilotless aircraft and even toilet seats, the list goes on. Even the trucking industry. Drivers out there who can't back up their rigs -- WTF No wonder we got crazy people running around this world. Seems an idle, wandering mind is likely the most dangerous thing ever conceived when coupled with the "herd" mentality.

Vote me in as Grand Moff and I'll see to it that the warning labels are removed from everything for a period of five years so nature can run its course. Sort of a social common sense reset.

We should get Charles Darwin to look at the human race now and ask what he thinks of his famous theory?
I always enjoy the emergency exit briefing part in an open cockpit biplane ;) always get a strange look and a laugh but its required as part of the passenger briefing I suppose ;)
