I keep a sidearm in a safe by my bedside, but I shudder at the potential hardship that I will have to endure defending myself from my own government should I ever have to use it to defend myself against what goes bump in the night.

It's fascinating how consistently enraged the
Canadian government gets, when citizens
reasonably attempt to defend themselves.

This is not isolated.  This is not the work of
a rogue prosecutor.

This is blatant systemic contempt for citizen's
rights and health.

Such government does not serve the citizens.
It serves itself.

Why such a poor government is tolerated is
mystifying.

The government is absolutely paranoid
about citizens owning firearms.  Their
behaviour in this respect is simply bizarre.

That's what the conventional wisdom says, but having read a few accounts of people who have tested that theory I'm not so sure.  I've actually considered taking out this insurance: [font=verdana][url=http://www.firearmlegaldefence.com/]http://www.firearmlegaldefence.com/[/url][/font]  $95 per year for $500,000 in legal fees (max $150,000 per occurrence).  I find it interesting that I can get $5,000,000 in liability insurance that covers all legal shooting activities for $9.95 (shooting sports are basically a non-risk as far as insurers are concerned) in case someone sues me, but 1/10 worth of protection from my own government will cost me 10 times as much.
