Back to the Tax debate.
I saw something claiming Mike Phelps has to pay $55000 tax for this years gold medals. Anyone know about that? Sounds like Internet Bologna but makes me wonder.

Nope, not BS. The US Olympic Committee pays cash for gold medals, $25K for gold. It is, of course, taxable income. While many athletes live on a shoestring, Mr. Phelps has over $50 million in endorsements, so he's in a pretty big tax bracket.

The US isn't unique, or even extravagant in paying for medals either.

sorry for the additional thread drift.

How timely. This is where your health care taxes
are going in Canada:
http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canad ... ronto-area
$1700 per day for a plush limo to drive the Federal
Health minister around.
It gets better: she thought it was a great idea until
she got caught - then changed her tune, and now it's
a bad idea.
So she admits that she is corrupt. Makes you
wonder what else she has done, that they simply
haven't caught yet.
Think of her riding around in a limo, next time you
are waiting a year for a procedure.
I know. I am a BAD CANADIAN for daring to observe
this, of my "elders and betters", whom are literally
Limousine Liberals.

Remember, the only time a Limousine Liberal is
corrupt is when they are caught.

I don't know who I believe was more corrupt Paul Martin or Brian Mulroney?
My point is, Even though I dislike the liberal party more, I don't imagine any particular party are the only ones practicing the art of helping themselves to a little extra.
Perceived personal use of the government airplane was what caused Albertans to vote out the long standing incumbent and elect the NDP... Alberta? NDP? Say what?
I actually think bringing her daughter was ok and bringing the daughter's friend, to help reduce boredom, during the parts where Mom had work to do makes sense too. It is not like the trip was to a Disney property. I would prefer a leader with a strong sense of family. Maybe that type of person would also want to do what's best for the provence.

having both lived in the USA and Canada, I can tell you for 100% certainty its cheaper (and little or no cost to me) for healthcare in the US.
The big difference is in Canada, people with high incomes, pay for the healthcare of people with low incomes.
When you make 50k per year,,, you dont understand this... when you make 200, you do.

Well let's see. Comcast Xfinity 150 (which I assume is what you're using) costs US$60/month for the first year, then $90 after that. Shaw 150 costs C$80 for first 2 years, then $135.
So, not really any difference (at least for the first year) when you convert C$ to US$.
So taxes aren't higher in Canada, and internet isn't more expense. Any other misconceptions waiting to be debunked?
Oh yeah, I know. I haven't actually physically ordered Comast in the USA, so I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about, and I'm a moron. There, I saved you the trouble of saying it, so you can spend more time posting pics of you doing aerobatics.

Man, it really bothers the hell out of you that
a) I have really nice airplanes
b) I can fly them really well
Presumably because of your typical Canadian
jealousy towards achievers, that you don't and
can't, and never will.
Fascinating insight into your character.
PS Oh, all right. Here's some eye candy.

Nope, that's not it at all. I just find it amusing that you feel the need to post lots of pictures of yourself and call the other person a moron when you lose an argument.
