Sorry, it's not rocket science. It is simple.

Google is your friend.

"qualities of a pilot cv" produces this from google http://www.avjobs.com/careers/pilot/

"qualities of a well written cover letter" produces this from google  https://www.livecareer.com/quintessenti ... ver-letter

IMO, you are over-complicating the issue. These are supposed to be future aviation professionals, not construction labourers.

Sure, until everyone has the exact same resume with the exact same wording.  That's what makes people stand out?  Funny, I have actually seen that recently, where people clearly used the same template and barely changed the wording.  Their resume got immediate pfo's because that's lazy.  You know what's not lazy?  Actively seeking out critique to make yourself better.  I think slamming those seeking resume critique services because some people may not have the same linguistic skills as you is unecessarily harsh.  Again, how does it affect your day that someone wants to stand out instead of just being a part of the crowd?

So you are suggesting that by researching how to write a cover letter, everyone will eventually wind up with the exact same wording and the people reviewing them will know this and chuck them I'm the round file? I disagree.

You are suggesting that paying someone to take your life experiences and put it on paper is less lazy than researching acceptable format and develop that relatively basic skill? I disagree.

BTW, if xsbank got really, really, really busy and he was doing 80% of the CV's and cover letters in Canada, wouldn't it soon become clear by way of his style etc that it was actually him doing all the work and not the potential candidates? How would that look to the people doing the hiring?

Your arguments are backwards IMO.

My argument is simple, It's not fucking rocket science to put together a CV and cover letter with all the information that is available for free with a couple of Google searches. If you can't figure that out and put something cohesive and relatively intelligent down to get yourself a job as a professional pilot, I would rather you stick to cleaning the lavatories as opposed to flying my wife and kids around. End of story.

It doesn't affect my day in the least. It's an internet rant. What the WWW was created for….

You'd be amazed how many people don't know how
to use Google.  I don't think it occurs to them, that
it's a tool that could help them.  Learning to know
what words to put into Google (in what order, with
what quote marks) is a second-order issue.

They ought to have a course in school on how to
use the internet to solve problems.  I would have
to wonder how many people here use this on a
daily basis:  www.wolframalpha.com
