TORONTO, April 8,2021/Scudrunners Aviation News/ – You may have had Airline bankruptcy and mergers on your 2021 “bingo card”. However, not many would have picked new Airlines being launched during a pandemic. If you did its doubtful you would have picked Toronto’s downtown Billy Bishop Airport as recipient of new that service. Waltzing Matilda Aviation of Bedford Massachusetts announced today that it intends to launch “Connect Airlines” service connecting YTZ “with numerous business centers in the US northeast and Midwest”
The company founded in 2008 operates as a Part 131 Charter and Private aircraft management operation. This new venture is targeting Fall of 2021 to commence operations that will utilize Q400 turboprop aircraft.
This is good news since it will most definitely piss off the idiots at “Community Air” with airplane noise and we think that is always a positive outcome. Waltzing Matilda’s website shows openings for positions and lists Canadian Licences as prerequisites.
The Press release does not make mention whether a FAA part 121 operating certificate or a Transport Canada CARs 705 OC is being sought. If your interested in applying for jobs it appears as if YTZ will be home base for the operation.
Check out their current openings http://www.waltzingmatildaaviation.org/scheduled-passenger-service/ We wish them luck, however if I was putting money on this becoming a successful venture I have a good track record shorting new airline start ups.
