quick question for you all:
Without digging in to the CARs, is it possible for an N registered (after clearing customs of course...) to land off airport in Canada? What about landing in lakes?
My mom wants to buy a cabin and I'd love to fly up to it. (Beaver Lake area outside of Kelowna)
Off airport landings

I am fairly certain, that in order to do that you will need a Canadian OBQP ( Outstanding Beaver Qualified Pilot) to accompany you.
As a lucky co incidence, I hold that designation, and can be available at an extremely modest fee(based on $18.00 a dozen) to help you out.
Feel free to PM for an incredible offer.
Seriously, I would be surprised if there was an issue. Lots of US based float planes cruising into Ontario. Only thing I can think of is there is probably an aviation tax on aircraft going into BC.
Having ferried float planes through BC there seem to be many lakes that seaplanes are not allowed to use as they are in provincial of federal parks or something.
Full disclosure....I have no idea what the CARs say, and I am not current on type or in that area.

I'm much less informed than Trey but figure you might want to contact these guys.

I think I heard something about Beaver Lake but don't remember what, also I have an overactive imagination so I'll refrain from carrying on further for now.
Just to be completely annoying I'll mention it seemed like a short drive from Kelowna when I went there like 25 years ago or so.

Thanks gents.
I have a feeling float traffic isn't welcomed at the lake. I think there is a hp limit for boats in the lake...
And Dave, you're correct, it's just a short drive from Kelowna.
Realistically, I'd fly into YKA and get dropped off at the cabin some how ...
The soon-to-be-wife is on board with flying across the country (s?) instead of checking out Vietnam.
