[quote]Jim Young has learned from the lessons of Greyhound Air, Canada 3000 and JetsGo and plans to be here for the long run.
The CEO of Canada’s newest airline, New Leaf Travel Company, unveiled his initial plans this morning at the James Richardson International Airport.
The "ultra-low-cost" carrier will offer unbundled travel services for leisure travellers based out of Winnipeg beginning this summer.
The Winnipeg airport will be home to the head  office of NewLeaf. The company expects to create 750 jobs in the city.
If you just want a seat and a seatbelt, they’ve got it. If you also want a meal, a rental car and a hotel, they can help you there, too.
The plan is to take to the air with two airplanes in the coming months and build up to 15 within a couple of years. Rather than duplicating well-serviced routes, such as Winnipeg to Toronto, NewLeaf will focus on gaps in the market, such as Winnipeg to Hamilton and Kelowna.
NewLeaf will also offer flights to U.S. sun destinations next winter, Young said.

Step right up ! place your bets people place your bets!

Im giving them until spring of next year! any takers?

I really don't think there is enough demand to make a real go of it with the cities they plan to serve.

They're stupid for ignoring AB and QC as there's a lot of traffic to/from those places.  Spring break next year sounds about right.

I hope I am proven wrong and they succeed, I think the Canadian market needs more competition. What gets me scratching my head is using Flair for their lift, how are they to make a profit and let Barry take his cut? Also how much demand is there to fly to Kelowna to Saskatoon or Winnipeg? and only with limited scheduled days. I can tell you WJ and AC probably have some good data on those city pairs and I don't think they are too worried.

Now lets see if Canada Jetlines and Jet Naked ever get this far.

If WS tried a route and bailed you can be sure the market isn't there. Now to go with a model that competes with Grey Hound and not the Level 1 group might be an idea but it seems that also has been tried as well. Way back when I'm thinking that was even uttered by WS. Let's get ma and pa and the kids, who would normally take the bus and forget the business travel. Best to them. It would be nice to see them succeed but not on the backs of pilots.
