The Birth of Espace Aéro: A New Era in Aerospace Innovation In a significant move to bolster Québec’s aerospace industry, ADM Aéroports de Montréal is thrilled to announce the launch of the Mirabel Hub, a cornerstone of the Espace Aéro innovation zone. Centred around the YMX International Aerocity of Mirabel, this initiative marks a pivotal step in the region’s technological advancement. Strategic Acquisition for a Technological Future The cornerstone of this development is the acquisition of a 17,925 m² building, formerly owned by Lion Electric. This facility will be transformed into a state-of-the-art aerospace innovation centre. ADM’s President and CEO, Yves Beauchamp, emphasizes the strategic timing of this acquisition, stating, “This business opportunity comes at just the right time and will help move this project forward even faster.” His vision aligns with the hub’s potential to significantly enhance the commercialization of new aerospace technologies. Driving Innovation in Decarbonization and Air Mobility The newly acquired building will foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including:
  • Manufacturers
  • Institutional and government partners
  • Academic and training institutions
  • Researchers and students
This collaborative environment aims to fuel innovation in key areas such as aviation decarbonization and advanced air mobility, positioning Espace Aéro as a leader in sustainable aviation technology. Commitment to Advanced Air Mobility ADM’s proactive approach towards advanced air mobility was highlighted with a $1 million investment at the Farnborough Airshow. This funding will support the creation of an Advanced Air Mobility Research Chair, focusing on the innovative use of digital twins in aviation. Furthermore, ADM has partnered with ICAO, supporting the first Canadian Institute in Advanced Air Mobility at YMX. This institute boasts a network of around 30 professors specializing in advanced air mobility, a rapidly emerging sector due to breakthroughs in electric propulsion and the increased demand for enhanced passenger services. About ADM Aéroports de Montréal ADM Aéroports de Montréal holds the responsibility for the management, operation, and development of YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, which holds a prestigious 4-star rating under the Skytrax World Airport Star Rating program, alongside YMX International Aerocity of Mirabel.
