23% raise is better than 0.
Not sure how the market works in Canada, does Flair have a union?

I had a gander at Air Canada’s pay scale. Kind of lackluster as well.
The question becomes, who holds the standard?
Down here it’s Delta’s new AIP, which is lucrative in some aspects.
$300/hr seems great, until the work rules has you on a 6 day trip, and you only fly 8 hours.
Hourly rates aren’t everything.

I tell kids who are thinking about becoming an airline pilot:
1) you need 1500 hours and an ATP for 121. Most people go deep into debt getting there
2) lifestyle is not good. You will miss your kid’s birthdays and Christmases and probably have at least a couple ex-wives and crippling after-tax monthly payments by the time you retire.
People think they’re going to earn $300k working 85 hours a month. Well, there’s a bit more to it than that.

You got it, this industry is fucked. That’s why I work for myself and mostly states side now. Canadas labour laws and loose TFW program that’s heavily abused by operators is only part of the issue….Colonel wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 2:03 pmI tell kids who are thinking about becoming an airline pilot:

Flairs been around for a long time, they where KFC charter company did things like crew changes up to the patch and winter contract flying south. That and be a union busting threat.
When New Leaf began operating they flew the planes New Leaf sold the seats. Then Flair bought out new leaf and starting doing it all.
As for money here’s a comparison of the airline and cargo types.

Wow….
All of those pay rates….
Wow…
Factor income tax, sales tax and all the other taxes you pay. Holy cow. I’ll be buying the Air Canada Captains a drink when I see them at the hotel bar.
