[size=8pt][b]By Leith Dunick, tbnewswatch.com[/b][/size][size=12pt]KAKABEKA FALLS – A 23-year-old man is dead after he came into contact with an airplane propeller at the Kakabeka Falls airport Wednesday morning.[/size][size=12pt]Emergency crews arrived at the scene just before 11 a.m. After first reporting that they had been responding to an “incident,†Thunder Bay Police Service officials later confirmed that the incident was fatal.[/size][size=12pt][img width=500 height=333]http://static.dougallmedia.com/tbnewswa ... 8258-m.jpg[/img][/size][size=12pt]The 23-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.[/size][size=12pt]The investigation was handed over by the Thunder Bay Police Service to the Transportation Safety Board.[/size][size=12pt]Ray McNabb, a regional senior investigator with the TSB, told CKPR Radio that a float plane had landed on the Kam river and was approaching the shoreline when the pilot had cut the engines.[/size][size=12pt]“The passenger had exited the aircraft too soon and walked forward into the propeller,†McNabb said.[/size][size=12pt]The entrance to the float plane area at the airport along the Kaministiauia River has been blocked by the Oliver Paipoonge Fire Department and Thunder Bay Police.[/size][size=3px]
