Kid did good. I would mail him a new certificate with SES if it was up to me.

Agreed, he sure sounded calm and his situational awareness was on point. His decision to keep it over the water instead of trying to b line it BFI screams he’s got some marbles upstairs.

It blows when you have to decide where you’re going to wreck an airplane.

Look on the bright side. It will give you something to talk about at your next interview for the majors.

Those guys crash all the time.

We might be assuming he’s a kid since it’s a 150.

However thinking back to when I was pissing around the Pacific Northwest I ran into a number of really high time pilots who hopped around in similar aircraft out of convenience. Ferry rides and traffic sucks on both sides of the line.

I recall one guy former fighter jock and all round badass pilot dude but humble as F who would commute to BFI working for Boeing. Super keen to learn about the Fleet Canuck as it was his first time seeing one.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the accident pilot has a similar background.

Currently #3 on seniority, not that it means anything in corporate. But I really hope to never answer HR questions again other than to inform them of my last day and where to send the gold watch.

Obviously great emergency landing, but if he had all that time for those radio calls, why no mayday or emergency call?

Sounded like a casual minor malfunction until he ended up in the water.

good point, I think we still have a stigma as pilots and are reluctant to declare a mayday or even a pan pan pan.
