Saw the new movie in a very nice theater in Mountain View last night. I was going to wait and watch it on TV but my kid bought tickets.

Great movie. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Go see it in the theater.

PS they played this motorcycle base jump clip in a preview before the movie. As expected he did it himself:

I feel sorry for the motorcycle.

Excited to share this item from my #etsy shop: Top Gun Movie https://etsy.me/3NcxIil

I’m the unofficial supplier of theatres staff across the country.

I’ve made around 50 shirts for staff at 3 theatres. So if the pimple faced kid gouging you for Popcorn was sporting a top gun shirt might just have been mine.

Now you’re just bragging :^)

I’m hoping to get out and see it this week. So far it seems airplane nerds love it, ex F-14 pilots love it, people who couldn’t care less love it and a couple people I k ow who are actively against any displays of enjoying things love it. Hell, my wife suggested we go see it. I have high hopes.

My wife liked it enough to tell her mother it was a good movie.

There was a few super human Maverick things but…

The only part that looked really fake to me was when he was pretending to remove a spark plug from his P-51. It looked like if it had actually been threaded into the engine, he would have broke it.

I was hearing that a really neat detail in the movie is that the F-18 is FBW of course
and doesn't let you over-G the airframe which was part of the plot (+10G pull) and
that there is a switch on the stick that you pull with your pinky to over-ride the FBW
over-G protection, and that was shown in the movie.

Neat!
