Please, don't do it.  Don't go over to
the dark side.  It's a completely useless
and non-standard phrase.  It's totally
meaningless and consumes valuable
time and makes you look like a complete
knob on the radio.

Whenever I hear this trash on the radio,
I now immediately respond with:

"I might be conflicting!  What do you want me to do?!"

The ACTPA bozos never know what to do,
when you actually take them up on their
nonsense.

I nearly punched my FO out the side of my Jet awhile back, we where heading into Indian country first time in a long time going uncontrolled. ATC had cleared us out of controlled airspace as it was clear and a million, I could see he was confused a bit at first as he's was pretty green. I said just through out a position report and our ETA on 26.7 and 23.2, Well !#@$ me if he doesn't blurt out conflicting traffic please advise!

I really hope no one heard us in a multi million dollar biz jet sounded like a bunch of amateurs, I promptly fined him two beers at the bar that night.  8)

Hahaha - this drives me crazy too!

So if I give a position report and DON'T say the catch phrase, does that mean that other people that are in conflict aren't obligated to respond (or that they are too stupid to tell me unless I tell them to)?

This is right up there with the little stick on signs that people put in their back car window that say "Please drive safely, baby on board". I want to get one that says "It's okay to hit me - there's no baby on board"

Yep.  That appears to have been me.  If only I had advised you...

It's just too bad that blue pilot wasn't as smart as the guy in the Aerostar who landed gear up then flew home… I mean, this guy could have bounced off that red one and been home for dinner, no problem.

That photo is actually useful ... it
shows you why an MT prop is good
to have.

If you have a prop strike with one,
you get a lifetime supply of matchsticks,
and NO engine damage!
