This keeps coming up, so I thought I would
address it.

For a CPL, CAR 421.30(4)(a)(ii)(A) requires
35 hours of dual flight time, from the holder
of a flight instructor rating - AFTER the issuance
of PPL.  Not after PPL flight test.

Now, lots of people working on their CPL are
doing the right thing and getting float ratings
and tailwheel time, etc.  Good stuff!

Here's the problem.  If the CPL/ATP that is
giving you dual on tailwheel, multi, float, etc
does NOT have a current flight instructor rating,
that dual time CANNOT be entered into your
CPL PTR.

Of course, it is entered into your personal
logbook and it counts toward the 200TT
required by CAR 421.30(4)(a)(i).

ANY dual time received from a flight instructor
AFTER the issuance of PPL is eligible to be
entered into your CPL PTR and counted towards
the required 35 dual.

Here's a small catch:  if your flight instructor
is a cunt (technical term from the software industry)
he can decline to sign off the dual time in your
CPL PTR.  I don't know why he would do that,
but I guess some instructors have to go on to
teach at the puppy mills, and become DPE's
and CAI's.

So, for dual flight time to be entered into a
CPL PTR (and thus count towards the 35 dual)
it must be:

1) from a flight instructor (TC CAR requirement)

2) from a flight instructor that will sign the
time off in your CPL PTR.

Hope this clears that up.

Remember, this doesn't make any sense.  Float,
tailwheel, multi etc dual training is EXACTLY what
a CPL candidate should get.

Just because TC is a cunt and doesn't let you count
it, doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.  Quite the
contrary.

There are two worlds:  the real world, and the paper
world.  Never confuse the two.  Don't expect the
paper world to make sense.  Just smile and eat that
shit with a spoon.

-- EDIT --

Just wanted to point out that solo (PIC) flight time
in a float / tailwheel /multi / etc CAN be entered
into your CPL PTR.  The CARs say it is eligible.

Again, you need to find a flight instructor that isn't
a cunt to sign it off in your CPL PTR.

I know this is really fucking weird.  Get used to it.
We can't change it.  Live with it.  Learn to fly as
best you can, and push the paper.  Don't argue,
it just makes TC get their panties in a bunch and
hate you forever.

I Just love the logic in Transports rules.

You can get trained by an excellent teacher with thousands of hours and decades of teaching the subject but their instructors rating has lapsed and TC will not approve it towards the license.

But if the training was done by a brand new flight instructor with no experience  that is just fine.

One has to admire the way TC regulates this industry.....their thought process is unique.

Logic?  Who said there was any logic?  :o

TC just is.  Like an inert element,
there is not going to be any change.

The important thing is to go out there
and get some good training.  If it can't
be counted, oh well.  Similar to being
disliked by Olivia Chow or Margaret
Atwood, it's really not something to
lose much sleep about.

To keep the paper moving, I hold both
class 1 aeroplane and class 1 aerobatic
flight instructor ratings.  TC does not like
me, and does not make this easy for me.

I have been told that it would not be
"productive" for me to attempt a rating
renewal in Ontario Region - how incredibly
childish and unprofessional - so I spend
thousands of dollars and travel to other
Regions to do so.

I do my medical in Quebec, and my instructor
ratings in PNR to reduce my vulnerability
to TC in Ontario Region.  My fans.  Hell,
they put a silly "no aerobatic" restriction
on my father's medical to try to shut down
my airshow career.  What children.

How many tens of thousands of dollars has TC pissed up against the wall trying to sewer us Colonel?

What a criminal waste of tax payers dollars.

And a misappropriation of money that should have been used to better aviation.

Idiots.

Fuckin idiots.

The FAA don't like Bob Hoover, Melissa
Pemberton or Skip Stewart.  A finer group
of pilots I could not conceive of.

Someone that flies that well is inevitably
going to be envied and hated by someone
like Arlo or Wayne.

Comes with the territory.  As USAF Col John
Boyd said, at some point in your career you
have to make a choice:  are you going to do
something, or are you going to be someone?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Boyd ... tack_Study
Boyd’s manual proved that he was the undisputed master in the area of aerial combat. Within a decade the Aerial Attack Study became the text for air forces around the world.
Col John Boyd was hated by the USAF generals,
and it's easy to see why.  They're cut from the
same cloth as Arlo.

Remember, Bob, Melissa and Skip do things,
and they are hated by people who don't, for
their own petty personal reasons.  Makes sense,
really.

Why oh why?  Is it because they can fly their beeehinds off in Mehiko or South America without much paperwork?

Yes, without proper paperwork Bob Hoover would not be able to do aerobatics of any kind because he needs the paperwork to read how to do it....sort of like Obama giving a speech with his teleprompter without it he would be incapable of doing it.

I know when I was flying in the airshow circuit in Europe I not only studied my paperwork before every show I would not fly without it on my person...I kept it up my asshole with the lucky horse shoe.

I have witnessed first hand the way Melissa is treated by the FAA... sickening...
