Anyone else here fly RC airplanes?  Do you plan to continue after June 1st when section 9 of the CARs comes into effect?

I just can't see myself going through licensing, exams, testing, flight reviews, currency, recency, registration, and insurance for a toy.  Oh, and all the fees that come with those things.

One of the reasons I left Canada, is that I thought there just wasn't
enough unnecessary involvement in people's lives by the government,
and I wanted to live someplace where there was.

My model airplane friends south of the border say the FAA is working hard to bring the same, or maybe worse down there.  Then there's Jacksonville where about fifteen years ago they created a bylaw banning the construction and operation of all recreational flying devices from Glasairs, RVs and whatnot all the way down to paper airplanes and kites because some NIMBY had a shit fit.

I bought my first drone about 3 months ago.  It's a dji spark and it was a reasonable amount of money to see if I might like it. I got it mainly to take with me on my jet boating excursions to possibly look at white water before tacking it in the minijet. I found the flight time limiting and was going to go bigger to allow possibly 25 minutes in the air and a little better range. Fast forward to today and it's a WTF moment. I will fly my drone without any government intervention because there will be no witnesses except for friends and it will be in uncontrolled airspace. If I were not in a remote area I know I would just forget about it but like speeding, only guilty after caught -- I'm sure there will be more like me.

Screw it, I'm just going to put floats on my plane and bring it up to the lake.

Just have to finish it first...
