Jesus, the brain trust on the other website sure is stupid.

Tie Downs

I get the impression they're talking about the ability of the wind to push airplanes around rather than developing lift. When I tie down my RV, I'm not worried about the wing developing 1100+ pounds of lift in the level attitude. Only about developing a few hundred pounds of "push" to move it around...
When I had my C170, I employed a method of destroying lift as you indicated...

Right. Rather than pouring 10,000 lb blocks of concrete to tie your
172 to, spoil the lift of the wing so it does not generate lift.
Not only does this reduce the tiedown requirements, it enormously
reduces the structural stress on the wings.
Reminds me of my chainsaw joke. A pilot from AvCanada got a
part-time job cutting trees to make ends meet. His supervisor
dropped him off with a chainsaw and came back in 3 days, and to
his enormous surprise, the AvCan pilot had only cut down 5 trees!
The supervisor pulled on the chord, started the chainsaw and quickly
cut down a couple of trees to confirm there was nothing wrong with
the chainsaw, and shut down the engine.
The AvCan pilot said, "What's all that noise?"

Lift spoilers huh? I can't find anything about them on the apple App Store or https://foreflight.com.
Are you just making that up?
If they are only available on android then pilots should never use them. If you knew anything you would understand iPhone is the best because it's more expensive.
Poor people like you are gross.

Actually, you'd have the least amount of structural stress on the wings if the wind generates just the same amount of lift as the weight of the wings >:D

I see the brain trust has read this website.
One could take a moment and define "assclown" in the context of aviation:
One who lives or dies by attempting to precisely control lift, but doesn't understand the first fucking thing about it
Here's something incredibly simple that a four bars will never, ever be able to do:
[/img]
Like the paint scheme I put on that airplane? How about the -ve AOA?
PS That's 100 MPH or thereabouts, formating on the right wing of a
buck fifty with all the knobs pushed in. Or so he said. That's why 100
mph is NOT a safe straight-in approach speed - upright, anyways. Better
to do a 100 mph final inverted, so you can at least see if someone is on
the runway. More registered letters, more photos from the Inspectors
playing peek-a-boo behind the hangars with their cameras, more personal
property permanently seized.
EDIT - re-read the above, and while it is both accurate and hilariously funny,
some people might construe it as a downer. Hardly. Here's something to
cheer you up. Check out Stephen Harper's - I know you hate him - coffee cup:
