Essential skill. Practice it regularly. Then when you really need it, it's not a huge deal.
I sort of thought the acronym would be understood by most here.
It is a new one to me, I guess I am really old school because we did not usually use acronyms to describe these things.
Oh well, I figured most of you would know what it meant.

The use of acronyms can be a slippery slope.
When used to describe a forced landing practice you sure as hell don't verbalized FLWOP do you?
I look on flying as a serious activity requiring attention to detail and the use of acronyms to me indicates a lazy attitude.
But, hey that is only my old fashioned opinion. :)

What the heck is a FLWOP again? I must have missed that day in my ground school when they explained it.
Just to assure the readers of this illustrious forum that I recognize the importance of knowing how to do an engine out forced landing I always sweep my flight path as I fly so as to have the safest forced landing site where possible chosen in case the fuck.r does quit.
That gives me a bit of a time hedge to fine tune the next decision.
Here is an interesting factoid.
In over thirty thousand hours of flying I have only had to do one forced landing due to a complete engine failure.
Mind you that was in a single engine airplane, I have had a few complete shut downs in multi engine airplanes and flew them to airports for the landing.
