Must be nice to live in your Region.  What colour
is the sky there?

I would like to know what Icelandair was flying.

I have never flown anything heavy.  C:-) (aircraft at least)

I know that in a heavy truck, if it is the right kind of slippery inertia can be bad. Couple that with them having to land faster than I can get my single piston plane to go.

I would be a bit may I say "over cautious".

I must tread carefully here, because of the
inherent lack of egalitarianism which would
enrage David Suzuki and Margaret Atwood ...

But some people, with skill developed through
years of experience, can operate safely in
conditions that others (who lack the skill and
experience) cannot.

I know this is very un-Canadian and quite
mysterious to many people, but yet, it is
still true.

Every year, when there's ice and snow and
the wind blows, some people stay on the
runway, and some don't - in the exact same
types of aircraft.  Sometimes even in far more
challenging aircraft.

If it makes one happy, in a very childish manner
one can attribute this merely to luck, or the juju
of the mountain, as is applicable for your regional
superstitions or national broadcaster.

However, the refusal to learn is sad.  There is a
name for people who insist upon making the same
mistake over and over and over and over again.

Well, I don't want to hurt any feelings.
We can all go for low fat frozen yogurt after.

This statement just made me wonder if the
Icelandair guys might have had superior skill
AND a lighter airplane?
I'm familiar with KJFK. They sometimes get such heavy snowfall that they close the airport. At other times the runway conditions are such that a safe landing is anything but assured. Landing distance on contaminated runways can easily exceed the distance available.

The CBC tells us that is impossible.  Mind
you, we don't see many Icelandair pilots
meet untimely and mysterious demises
in east end alleys, either  :o

That's ok.  Someone else here will get you up
to speed ASAP for my comment which would
have got me banned (again) from AvCan for
it's lack of egalitarianism.
I don't watch CBC
I like you more, with each passing day.

Although as a taxpayer a year you are
required to pay a BILLION dollars
per year to subsidize their propoganda
(in addition to their paid commercials)
despite what the intelligentsia of the
Laurentian Elite will tell you, as a
Canadian citizen you are not required
to listen, watch and agree with their
left-wing tripe.

Any environmentalist will lecture you
endlessly about the importance of BALANCE
in nature.  I have taken their argument
to heart - I agree with them - and this
is why I am morally obligated to output
such a tremendous volume of right-wing
tripe, to balance the CBC's enormous
output of left-wing nonsense.

j/k.  Right wing people scare me as much
as left-wing people amuse me.  I do not
consider it sport, for example, to take
a .308 with a scope and go hunting for
abortion doctors.  On par with collared
lions, IMHO.

I'm undecided about Cicil the lion. I would probably eat a sandwich made with lion meat
but I don't like the sound of luring him out of the sancuary.

I think Don Trump is only looking out for himself and possibly his kids.

I liked that bit in the second part where he said,
"This country is too politically correct. We're losing... to China... To Mex..."

I think he is right about that part.
