The Chipmunk is a really really nice little airplane to fly. It needs a lot more power but oh what a lovely little plane. Viking should indeed start making them again but with a bit more oomph and a bit less oil dripping .. oh and a baggage compartment would be nice.

The Brits put a small turbine in the Chipmunk in the mud-50s but it was not very successful..  It certainly was a delightful aircraft to fly but a pig to work on.

Chipmunk needs an M601T:

650hp continuous.  I'd accelerate level and pull
vertical on every takeoff, at the end of the runway.

Approved by Bad People everywhere.

I know a guy with a bright red Legend, the PT-6
wasn't enough, he went to a 1100hp Garrett.

TC hates his fucking guts.  Figures, he's an awesome
stick.  You should see him in a helicopter.  When
enough years go by, I will post some videos.

They will blow your mind, and they were with the
"underpowered" PT-6, which Wayne Handley had
in his "Raven" which was a turboprop Giles IIRC.
