Watching this video, clearly he was
suffering from variable tailwinds on final,
which caused him to sink abnormally low
on final before overshooting:

The surface analysis chart at the time
tells the story.

There were obviously tornadoes in the area as well - I can actually see them following the aeroplane --

False.
This is the cure for tailwinds on final:

I remember the many weather briefings as a kid before heading out. You'd get the details alright, yes you would.

Heading into town would often see the Mike (wx- specialist)  biking to work. Was found unresponsive beside his bike one day at the side of the road somewhere south of the border (USA) doing that which he enjoyed the most.

That chart looks like a bit of a cock-up to me. I think someone is pulling your leg.

Lots of places get screwed with wx. Many an airshow has had a damper put on it by weather.

Usually we're lucky, no drought or flooding. This year we haven't had a decent rain here in our/NE corner of the Niagara penninsula ... since last year actually. Some crappy weather would be welcome about now. So cool/dry in Spring ... now hot / no chance-of .. everything yellow for weeks already.

(Be careful what you wish for, as long as there's no adverse storms/tornados when we get some moisture eventually.)

I remember some summers, we'd get rain, then other summers, we wouldn't get rain. It was a very exciting time to be alive.
