I remember when Wasaya Airlines flew in two of their PC-12s to land at Harv's Air in Steinbach back in 2009-10 when I used to work there. The runway there is 35 feet wide (the paved part, anyways) with 3100 feet and they barely used much more than half of the runway coming in or going out! The Harv's crew regularly flies their Navajo in and out of there on a daily basis. Talk about being spoiled with too much runway!!

He said that this particular outfit has actually had 3 overruns exactly like this (but only one made the news).

My old home airport had a parallel grass runway,
with a total length of just over 1000 feet that was
good for practicing short field takeoffs and landings.
It had no obstructions, so you could land just about
any light single on it in around 500 feet, if you had
control of your approach speed and touchdown point,
which I'm sorry to say, not everyone does.
The "long" runway was 4000 feet of pavement, which
we operated Vref 125 knot jets off of. It was exactly
the same as a prop airplane - control your airspeed
and your touchdown point.
Pity that people often don't learn that during their PPL -
it is considered "advanced" training which blows my
and Chuck's and LC's minds. We consider these
fundamental flight skills.

I still have a tendency to go below the slope and use as much of the pavement as I can. Maybe its because I use to fly up north into places you could barely classify as strips or I learned at a grass field with out any hash marks or PAPI's.
I have been spoiled flying great aircraft and I agree the PC-12 was an incredible performer, today I fly a Sovereign and getting into the numbers I don't have go worry about a gross weight take off in Denver (KAPA) until +40C . On the other hand the old Lear 55 I use to fly was a runway hog for sure.

You don't have to land on the numbers ...
As long as someone can control their touchdown
point, that is a good thing.

Dam would you look at those gas prices, I think thats what they pay in Vancouver per litre these days.
