I'm having a ball Chuck. Andrew is doing his best to deprogram me of 40 years of flying Beavers. Hard to train an old dog new tricks I guess. The Pitts is a marvellous flying machine, I wish I had done this years ago. Now if I could just keep up with the MF and stop dancing on the rudder...... Tomorrow is another day. At least I have no vertigo or puking problems, doesn't seem to bother me. Andrew thought I liked - gee cause I kept shovin the stick the wrong way, my lizard brain taking over.
Trying something new and challenging is like being born again.
P.S...
If he offers you some candy in the hangar with on lights on be careful. >:D

It's funny - when you are upright,
"letting the nose drop" is pretty
unambiguous.
However, when you are inverted,
"letting the nose drop" can go either
way, literally.
its amazing how power transforms an airplane
Indeed. I am a big fan of aircraft that have had
powerplant swaps, such as:
L29 with RR engine (twice stock thrust of -701)
Stearman with R-985 (twice stock hp of W670)
Spot the pattern?
Even a 172XP (with the governor tweaked
to 2800RPM) has 210hp available with the
constant-speed prop at redline on takeoff.
A stock 172 with 150hp O-320 and fixed-pitch
prop really doesn't have 150hp available on
takeoff, because it isn't seeing 2700 RPM,
which is the RPM at which it produces 150hp.
Depending upon the prop installed, you might
be seeing only 100hp, because the static RPM
is 'WAY down from redline on takeoff.
So with a 172XP, you are pretty close to doubling
the power. And that is a good thing!
Oh yeah, another hot rod ... the clip-wing Harvard
MK IV with the three-blade geared prop. zoomies
exhaust and the big blower ... it will develop 46
inches on takeoff if you push the throttle all the
way forward, which you won't if you like your jugs.
I'd really like a MiG-21 but we just don't have
the runway for it :(
PS For the young perverts, "jugs" refers to these:

Not these, ok?
