I have a love-hate relationship with SNA. It’s challenging, as in: it’s really a spot landing competition for airliners. Which is fun. It’s not fun when you’re in the right seat (it’s a captain only landing for us) checking out a new captain. I don’t get paid enough sometimes.

That’s one advantage of flying corporate with the same guys.

All captains and in fact the one guy in this video checked me out on the C680 then follows me over to our present company. I think combined we have we have 5500 hours in on type and half that is on one particular plane. I know what he’s going to do before he does it.

Wish I filmed my ballistic arc from LAX to Burbank couple years ago. I will say when I’m PM I’ll hire one SoCal controller to work all YYZ and it would run far better.

Last time in to BUR had to go around due to a 7 knot tailwind. It was pretty fun doing a VFR pattern in an A319.

I didn’t know the runways there were so short

The “little” airport here (SJC) has two 11,000 foot runways, at sea level

99% of the time we land on 8.

Add in the terrain surrounding the area. Makes it a bit spicy when you’re maneuvering a 140,000lbs jet.
(64,000kg for you Kings countrymen types.)

It’s a special qual airport and captain only landing. Much like SNA.

Burbank if I’m not mistaken are pretty anal about noise abatement. I think on a separate flight from Florida to there (long sit) we where scheduled to land after 9pm or whatever the time the airport dictated quiet time. I called the airport to clarify their rules.

Super helpful guy he said he’s seen 727 come in there and not set off the decibel censor but then a Lear 45 bust the reader.

I guess if you can manage energy and not drag it in you’ll be fine.

Would be fun carving a A319 around in that bowl 😀

Don’t let this distract you from the fact that they’re still trying to cancel the duke
