If I were in that situation I’d be looking pretty hard at how to get the hell out of the country. I wonder how much of a struggle it would be to walk across the border into Haiti or cash charter a boat to the British Virgin Islands.

I’ve noticed Canadians don’t often get this “bribe” thing.
A few bucks would probably get them on their way.
Think of it as a tax, which come in many forms and are levied by many people. Canadians love paying tax. I have friends in Ottawa, they're paying 60% marginal tax, and in return, they get really shitty health care.

This has happened a few times in the last decade. I think the last notable time was a cargo crew flying the Irish concord… the Shorts 360.
