While it has some entertainment value, I think, in the long run, we're better off avoiding this.
Some of the weenies are sure to show up to defend themselves, and we'll end up with a shit show.
Better to just leave the weenies alone. They're happy with what they have, so let them enjoy their milquetoast censored existence.
I'm content to be a hater/flamer/troll. I've been called a lot worse by a lot better.

Well I don't think I am a hater as far as flight instructors goes despite what BPF says, for years I have expressed my opinion on instructing quite clearly.
" Flight instruction is the highest calling a pilot can aspire to. "
I do not " hate " instructors, however I do think that poor instructors that work for peanuts are a detriment to the training industry.
Obviously BPF gets real agitated when anyone comments about poor instructors so he must feel threatened.

Well, Chuck, "hater" is just a word the weenies like to throw around when someone disagrees with them. It doesn't really mean anything, certainly doesn't mean "hate" in the sense that you or I think of it. We think of hate as a pretty strong emotion, but to them it's just a casual label to be applied to people they don't like.
So when they use the word hate in the wrong context they are displaying their own ignorance?
If someone discovers you instruct in this country,
their opinion of you is instantly lowered
Well, now. I have been flight instructing
continuously for 25 years now and hold
both class 1 and class 1 aerobatic instructor
ratings, the privileges of which I exercise
frequently.
I would really love some four bars to tell
me to my face that I can't fly an airplane
very well, compared to him.
Chuck, to me it's always looked like you think highly of instruction as an activity, but hate instructors in general
I think you misunderstand Chuck.
Like me, he has an awfully low opinion
of 95% of the flight instructors in Canada
who are doing it only to build time, are
learning to instruct on the job, and as soon
as they can get in the right seat of a clapped
out twin, are gone.
You can think of it that way if you want, or you can look at it merely as cases of opinion and perception. Persoannly Chuck, to me it's always looked like you think highly of instruction as an activity, but hate instructors in general. Yes i'll use "hate" since in my perception it appears that way. Maybe others will have a different perception.

You are 100% wrong in your opinion.
I do not hate instructors in general, I do however think that the industry has far to many incompetent instructors.

A general hate for instructors has always been prevalent in Canadian aviation, most obvious online, but it happens all the time in person.
There you go, you yourself are admitting there is a general dislike for instructors in Canada therefore there has to be a reason for this attitude.
Also it is interesting that this attitude is more prevalent in Canada than other countries.

If someone discovers you instruct in this country, their opinion of you is instantly lowered without knowing any more about you. You could probably have two pictures of the same pilot, and if asked about each woth one labelled 'instructor' they would have a preference for the other one.
So where does the cause for this situation lie?
I would suggest it lies with the regulator who licenses and oversees these instructors.
I sold my flight school because it was hopeless trying to find qualified competent instructors to produce a good product.

Personally I think that the minimum hours needed to qualify to be an instructor should be raised from zero PIC as a working commercial to at least one thousand hours PIC in commercial aviation.
Then maybe the pay rate would attract better instructors.
What do you think of that SSU?
