If you skim read the aviation news headlines from various sources over the last 24 hours you might have came across some sensational headlines that would make you think the 737 Max might “fall out of the sky” again. On Friday Boeing informed 16 “MAX” operators of the need to address an electrical issue on the aircraft before further operation of the type. Its recommendation requires the airlines in question to verify “that a sufficient ground path exists for a component of the electrical power system.” The manufacturer added that: “We are working closely with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration on this production issue. We are also informing our customers of specific tail numbers affected and we will provide direction on appropriate corrective actions.” The issue appears to stem from “backup power control units” not having a correct or sufficient grounding. As with any type of aircraft service issues can arise. In Canada CBC reported that Air Canada’s 737 Max aircraft “are not on the affected list” and Westjet reported “ they have been notified regarding a potential production issue with one of its 737 MAX aircraft and has removed the affected aircraft from service for subsequent inspection. Any maintenance, if necessary, will be completed before the aircraft returns to service.” Westjet 737 MAX Move along, nothing to see here folks this is routine…….
