IMHO in the absence of a strong motivator
otherwise (ATC, other traffic) a power-dependent
approach to an airport surrounded by a built-up
area is unnecessary and dangerous, and meets
the litmus test for a CAR 602.01 contravention.

For many decades, I have heard from pilots that
they won't fly a single at night, IFR or over water
like I do:

Ok, I accept (nay, embrace) that rhetoric.  Therefore
the 1st paragraph of this post applies.

As Brian Mulroney once famously stated, you
can't suck and blow at the same time.  Which
is it going to be?

ATC and traffic permitting I will always do the curving constant angle of bank turn to touch down,

Flying sea planes I always do that approach.

It is just so easy and safer.

What about in the good old days?  How was it done in 140's and Canucks back when they were earning their keep?  I'm just going to go ahead and assume those were the last great mass-trainers before Land-O-Matic gear came and ruined everything and reference that for ideas on how it should be done.
