It is coming up to 45 years since I got into the mighty Buck 50 for my first official flying lesson.
I look back at a pretty good run to date. Met and worked for a lot of great people and few assholes , but the good greatly out numbered the bad. I have received a lot of great mentorship over the years and have tried to pay it forward.
But I do have one regret. I twice tried to join the RCAF, but I was V2 when they wanted V1 and then 10 years later when the vision requirement was relaxed to V2 I had slipped to V3.
Anyone else thinking about a road not taken....
Any regrets ?

Many.
Slightly less from aviation.
I regret:
1) Not doing the Borek thing in my 20's. Never worked for them, never went to the ice, regret both and unfortunately I'm established enough that that ship has probably sailed.
2) Not Trying the airlines. I'm still pretty sure it wouldn't be my cup of tea, but having never tried it, I don't really have a leg to stand on with that claim.
3) Not doing more gliding. This could change.
4) Leaving my current company. This one is difficult. This is my third time working for them, and I truly love it here, it took working elsewhere to come to that conclusion, but I would probably have been better off if I had not left the first time. Or second. Moral of the story I suppose that you should never burn bridges... because... three times.... same place.

No.
I thought I regretted something, because it closed an avenue at the time. However the journey getting to where I’m now has been really good.
For example: I got turned down for flying a PA31 for a cargo operation. I was a little miffed. 2 days later I get a job offer flying a ‘ho for a pax operation. (In the US) that led to getting my ATP and another path to where I am now.
I’m not the youngest captain here, but I have just under 30 years to enjoy it.

Not really. My life is better than most.
Closest things, I probably should have bought a Cessna 310 instead of a house a couple of decades ago. Maybe worked harder at playing music and finished a CPL.

The biggest regrets don't come from failure
They come from not having tried
They come from not having tried
There are only 3 kind of people in this world
Those that can add and those that can't
Those that can add and those that can't
