Just finished up a Sabre Mk 6 model this morning.Colonel was your Dad with 439 Squadron back in the Sabre days?

Can't say this is my best work, but I think it's fairly presentable.

I was going to complain about a lack of pictures. After I signed in there were pictures.

That's gorgeous. Nicely done!

Very nice.  Sabre changed a lot, over the years.

Dear old Dad flew Sabres in Europe (Marville) in 1 Wing
for 410 and 441 squadrons at Marville, IIRC.

439 was the other squadron in 1 Wing?  I'm sure he knew
many pilots in 439.

I was always fond of the checkerboard tails!

... and here's Marville, ten years later in 1965:

.. and here's a 439 picture for ya:

Yes 439 was the other squadron of 1 Wing in Marville.  I got the marking set from a fellow in Calgary, his company is "Leading Edge Models".  Really nice decal sets, this one has 410 and 439 markings.  It also includes all the stencils, took days to get all of those blasted things in place.  i got one folded over on itself on top of the fuselage, didn't notice it till it was well dry, and another pair of tiny ones on the canopy sill that stuck to my thumb and I lost 'em.  The stencils don't show up too well in the pictures, but close up they do add quite a bit.

The kit is 1/32 scale from Kinetic.  https://www.scalemates.com/kits/kinetic ... ng--107074
It comes with two complete sets of wings, with alternate wingtips.  You can build the solid wing with the 6-3 extension Mk 5 or early F-30 (with wing fences), or the slatted 6-3 Mk 6, and you can use the alternate extended wing tips to make a late F-40 American F-86.  Not the best engineered kit out there, but quite workable, and has the options I needed for the Canadian versions.

I also LOVE (!!!) checkerboards on airplanes, but in this case the tiger head really appealed to me.

Cheers
