His rate of change of roll - the derivate of roll rate - is impressive!

I don't know enough about it, so I am not trying to be disrespectful towards his skills, but what exactly is so impressive about it?

Rate of change or roll rate - i.e. he starts and stops the rolls superbly. One of the challenges of the monoplanes with big ailerons is that on one hand you get fantastic roll rates but on the other starting and stopping perfectly with no wobble etc. becomes harder. He nailed both the rate and the change in rate to get there and back. That's hundreds of hours of roll practice.

I thought it was marvellous, but I really don't know very much about aviation.
I'm not sure to laugh or cry when practitioners of a craft can't even recognize
mastery of it.
You've probably never heard of this guy, either, but some people think he
was pretty good, before a pilot killed him anyways.

Takes balls to cover Hendrix. Wait, you don't know who he is, either.

One of the things I love about watching the Red Bull pilots is their roll control. I remember reading that our eyes/brain can only track about 300 degree/sec of roll, so in an Edge 540 that's capable of 400+ it's an incredible display of skill to snap from 90 to +/-10 and back again. All while pulling a crap ton of load right over the ground and threading a gate.
Mind boggling to me.
