The statement of the delayed decision to descend comes from the NTSB not me. It is what it is, a finding in the report that has not been any revision by me. It is in quotation marks.

As for your point in creating the thread, I agree with you on the seriousness of a fire in an aircraft and that it is a big deal. Delaying a descent could result in unecessary casualties. I don't think TC ever espoused that idea.
