Really dumb question:

The series 3 iWatch:

https://www.imore.com/apple-watch-serie ... difference

has a GPS and altimeter.  What navigation
software is there for it?  Standalone, I mean,
with no tethering.

I'm a Garmin guy.  Been using their hardware for years,
so when it came time to get an app ...

Also, for flight planning, skyvector is awesome.  And free.

Or, you can go old school and buy all the sectionals for
North America and plan out your fuel stops with cans
of AvBlend on the hangar floor.

So many nice things about the app.  It automatically
generates a logbook for you, with places/dates/times.

Ya know...technology in the cockpit may not be a bad thing after all  8)

See, I got a GPS in my hand-held supercomputer
with external power.

If that craps out, I have a sectional on my knee.

If the map falls into the tail, I can follow I-40 off my
left wheel.

If aliens materialize and zap I-40 and all the earth
below me into a parallel universe, well, I've been
sitting on a fucking parachute for the last 2,000
hours of my Pitts flying.  Time to see if it works.

The guy who packed it said that if it didn't work,
to bring it back and he would repack it for free.
Ya gotta like someone who stands behind their
work.  A long, long way behind it.

Andrew:  that is one neat phone.

The attached is indicative of my ambivalence.  Or maybe it's just the old Canadian compromise thing...

What's not shown is the arm to which I attach the iPad.

The attached photo is from the link.  Anybody what doesn't get a woody looking at that Garmin display is seriously disturbed...  (;>0)
I gotta ask you guys with all the fucking colored
glass in the cockpit:

When you're going the wife doggy, do you strap
an iPad to her back so you can watch porn at the
same time?
Strap that to her back instead of what the Colonel suggested above.  :) :) :) :)

And you don't need the super old plane to do it. I flew over Tennessee and Kentucky past Summer in my C172, transponder off, dual comms off, windows open = paradise
Look at that F4 that I discovered on this airfield in the middle of nowhere. Sorry for the "aerobatic" photo! Anyone knows how to rotate it?
