Wow, that sounds pretty amazing. I am fairly sure it would be in that MOA R-2515.

Could you see the desert surface markings from around Palmdale and Mohave area looking into Edwards? I would think at 10000' you might but maybe not since you would only be around 6000' AGL.

I love the rocket symbol beside Mohave airport.

Edit: I just looked again and it is definately Rogers Lake right beside Edwards base, there is a triple runway marking going from the main base up to the north base and the circle is a rather giant compass rose.

I think I did see some lines on the desert between me and Edwards
AFB running east-west but I will admit I really wasn't looking for them -
I just wanted to stay out of the restricted airspace.

MOA's, restricted and prohibited airspace are all quite different.

You can fly right through MOA's.  The sectionals have a panel
describing altitudes, times, freqs, etc.  And FSS can give you
more information about them, too.

I never have the balls to fly through restricted airspace, but
there was continuous traffic - probably IFR - trying to snivel
a shortcut through R-2515 from Joshua MOA FAC 133.65

Prohibited airspace?  Don't go there.

I will get shat upon for this, but I really don't like VFR
flight following.  Instead of peaceful silence, or music
piped into my intercom, I get to hear a bunch of PPL's
yammering away, that love the sound of their own voice
and just can't get enough of it.

Just shut up and fly.  Less is more, on the radio.

I am lucky enough to have a #2 that hates the radio
more than I do.  He had it turned down, pretty much
the whole way out here.  He never talks to ATC,
just follows me.

Most people think I'm a moron compared to them,
but every once in a while someone does what I
suggest.  My #2 did.  He got his solo and formation
SAC when he was 19, and during his undergrad
engineering did a double minor in math & physics
and got an exemption in 4th year to take a graduate
level Embedded Systems course that he said was
an entire year's worth of work.  Wrote verilog for
an AES crypto chip.  I think I have it in my email
if you want it.

I presume the restricted area is always active. I noticed it did have a spot low down that allowed a bit larger pattern for Mohave.

I go around all the special areas unless I have good reason to be in them, such as a practice area that I am using for it's intended purpose.

An interesting side story about those jets parked in the infield at Mojave.

The guy who I did the flying for owned a couple of tanker trucks he used to de-fuel the jets once they were permanently parked in the field, he then used the fuel to fly is own collection of jets which was really interesting and included a Mig 21.

My favourite among his collection was the F100 Super Sabre.
