Where are the best FTU's in Canada?

If the answer is that you can't help construct a better flight school without being staff/owner then perhaps we should start a list of exceptional flight schools in Canada.

Tough one....from my experience I would nominate Brampton Flying Club, Victoria Flying Club, and Harv's Air.

The thing to remember is any school is only as
good as the instructor you get.

Hard to say but if I had to narrow my search down I would look for ones based at small airports. You won't spend time flying cross country to the "practice area". Nor will you be 6 in the circuit.

I know many places having limits on weather they sent students out in, so look for sunnier places like YYC. Avoid the coast you might not fly for weeks in the winter.

Speak with the instructors and former students.

Really good advice.

Weirdly, Florida is a fantastic place for flight training,
despite all the water around it.  And on it, these days.

For Canada, go prairies.  In the summer.

Depends on condition of fabric, prop, engine, avionics (a little bit).
Probably USD$50k to USD$150K would be the range.

Interestingly trade-a-plane.com does not show even [i]one[/i] S-2B
for sale.  Most got exported to Europe a few years back when
the dollar was low.  There are only a handful in Canada and
don't change hands very often.

I know a really rough, high-time, used-up S-2C that went for
USD$120K (too much) and needed an engine overhaul almost
immediately afterwards.  Keep in mind that one new blade for
a claw is $19,000.  [i]One blade[/i].
