they take a few jabs at each other
As long as no one's feelings got hurt.  That would
have been a goddamned tragedy.  Worse than
Spanish Flu in 1919, which claimed between 20
and 50 million victims.

Regardless of the feelings of the princesses,
both Henshaw and Quill are great reads.  Highly
recommended to read what real pilots think.

I always enjoyed flying with the Vintage Wings
pilots.

I remember, one day Eric and I were leaving,
taking off runway 27, and we were going to do
the usual formation departure, me lead, Eric
on right echelon.

Eric convinced me to do a 1/2 roll on takeoff
and stay low, and he tucked in tight, so when
we went by the BBQ at the back of the Vintage
Wings hangar, there was one set of landing gear
pointing up, and another set pointing down.

No jealous big bellies that day, just a great
bunch of guys.  Real pilots.

A shit teenage pilot, compared to the princesses
here with the delicate feelings, with a bunch
of shit airplanes in the background, compared to
what the heroes here all fly.

My student pilots are such shit compared to those
of the princesses, because I'm such a shit instructor.

And here I though the thread was a happy one, announcing the re[birth of a Spitfire!  Could someone give Andy a Happy Pill for a change!  I;m getting tired of his bull shit.

Yes we should all be very happy to see this aircraft complete and in the air .
However, it is technically not a rebirth as it is not an original Spitfire.
She is a new build , that replicates the Y2K Spitfire that was in RCAF hands during WW2.
There is nor provenance to the actual Y2K .
An amazingly beautiful recreation none the less

GoBoy:  I could be wrong but I believe that this is the same Spitfire that was under re-build at Comox 15+ years ago before Vintage Wings funded the completion.  The last time that I saw it, it was a pile of corroded junk being used as patterns...however it has some original parts but not the real Y2*K data plate.

Regardless, it is a beautiful aircraft

Barney
You are correct this is the Comox Spit
According to Peter Arnold . one of the worlds  foremost Spitfire Expert, Y2K consisted only of a corroded firewall and thats it
I have seen the pictures of said firewall sitting beside a new one for the aircraft. According to Peter nothing of Y2K was useable or used in the new build . There may be some original Spit parts in her ie the engine , some instruments etc but there is no actual Y2K provenance
Either way I would turn her down

FYI  current count is I think 58 flying Spitfires . Quite remarkable considering there were only 20 or so in 1969. There have been many wrecks dug ups since then and new Spits created . The provenance is disputable on more than half of them
cgzro

She is I believe ready for Canada day so if you are on Parliment hill you may see two Spits!

I somewhat recently watched an episode of a plane restoration series. A guy rebuilt a Hurricane. The series is on Netflix, pretty cool. Might be from a while ago.

When I say "a guy" he went to India, filled a container with abandoned stuff and helped a restoration company rebuild a Hurricane... Still made a good show.
