NavCanada Grinds my Gears

I see on the other forum there is some heated discussion about Navcan.

Without being a grumpy old fuck...they grind my gears as well. Am I the only one?

-Expensive fees. Private small aircraft have that stupid $76 yearly fee. I never fly through a controlled area, website is public, quite simply I personally don't use their services.

- Behind the times- no wx app for your phone,iPad,etc. No improvement on their website, extreme backlog on developing gps approaches at smaller airports. Automated Reportable weather at some major airports that after 2300 can't give weather because the tower Ie.CYXU is shut down...really...can't pull it off eh.

-GFA's- wx ends at the border...really...nuff said.

-Giving to charities- hey I'm all for it and I give generously but when I'm forced to pay your fees then you turn around and give millions to charities I feel duped. I don't get it. You're providing a service I don't use and I'm forced to pay, then you give my money away...in my situation specifically it hurts a little.

-Controllers not being very helpful in wx- if anyone has flown IFR in the states around any weather you'll know what I'm talking about. I've heard the whole liability issue but more likely then not you'll hear the controller state that his "radar isn't that good"...why? I have an app on my phone that updates every 2 mins and is deadly accurate. Spend all that money you charge and update your systems. The U.S. is leaps and bounds ahead of you in this respect.

I realize everyone has an app or uses Fltplan.com/ jepp to put up with the lack of progression from Nav Canada but should we put up with this? I've expressed some concerns over the years but have not had a response from them.

I could go on but I'm tired and the more I think about this the more I'm pissed off.  >:(

This is what you get when the government " Privatizes " a public service and the government drones slide over into a new position and just carry on as before.

Look at B.C. Ferries and Translink in B.C. for perfect examples of financial waste and non accountability to the public.

Donations to charities WTF over that is almost as infuriating as seeing BC Ferries advertising on the boards at a Canucks game. It's amazing when I go to an airport in the states and watch them move metal its an art. Then come back to Canada and get holds 100 miles out then when handed off to arrival expecting it to be crammed with traffic to hear crickets and see nothing on the TCAS. Landing with one aircraft holding short and not even a twinkle of landing light behind me.

Kind of makes you want to ask for your money back.

Ohhhh God don't even get me started on what the hell is wrong with the YYC sector in regards to controlling. You guys just built a new runway......why are we still dealing with flow control and holds and some of the craziest vectoring around.......  I have been into JFK, Denver, Dallas ft worth, Atlanta...... Cities that move tons and tons of airplanes and yet no holds no flow.

I like when I get slowed way the fudge down 30 mins out, only to be told on final to keep speed up (usually 160) until FAF...
