Ten of 49 TransAsia Airways pilots failed emergency proficiency tests ordered by the Civil Aeronautics Administration of Taiwan after a deadly plane crash in the capital, Taipei, last week, the aviation regulator announced on Wednesday.
The results were another black mark for TransAsia, Taiwan’s third-largest airline, which has had two deadly crashes in less than seven months.
Good for Steve.
I find it a little ironic that one hand hand people bemoan the death of stick and rudder skills, tailwheel flying, steam gauges, and all the other stuff that makes one a "real pilot", and yet here is a guy actually doing all that and he gets criticized.

In a word, that's bullshit....

???
Methinks you may missed the sarcasm implied by the "".
The "Good for Steve" bit was genuine, I've watched his videos since before he started his Youtube channel.
I never have, and never will, toot my own horn for flying ability. Mainly because I don't have enough experience to count as bug splatter on most pilot's windshields.
A real pilot is someone who brings the airplane back safe at the end of the flight, preferably without scaring the bejesus out of everyone (Or gets as close as humanly possible in impossible situations - Sully, etc). Whether that flight happens to be a 12 hour haul with 400 people, a 12 minute airshow that would burst blood vessels in a normal person's eyes, a bush trip into butt-fuck nowhere Alaska, or just a milk run around the pond with a friend in a 172.

How is he not the poster boy for the colonel and Chuck's whole. "Conventional gear is not a big deal." Campaign?
If a fall down from Whoville with no self esteem can do it...
