IMHO in the absence of a strong motivator
otherwise (ATC, other traffic) a power-dependent
approach to an airport surrounded by a built-up
area is unnecessary and dangerous, and meets
the litmus test for a CAR 602.01 contravention.
For many decades, I have heard from pilots that
they won't fly a single at night, IFR or over water
like I do:

Ok, I accept (nay, embrace) that rhetoric. Therefore
the 1st paragraph of this post applies.
As Brian Mulroney once famously stated, you
can't suck and blow at the same time. Which
is it going to be?
