Anybody know what this is? I can't find much info about it.

Looks like a J-3 underneath it all with a ton of mods.TwinOtterFan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 3:03 amAnybody know what this is? I can't find much info about it.

Seeing as though it has only 200 hours on airframe it’s either some carefully stored and cared for artifact (unlikely) or it’s a one of the home built cub clones (likely). Be nice if the ad had more details, but personally I would avoid buying a plane out of Quebec.Slick Goodlin wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 7:02 pmLooks like a J-3 underneath it all with a ton of mods.TwinOtterFan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 3:03 amAnybody know what this is? Well, you have to wonder why no one in Quebec will buy it.personally I would avoid buying a plane out of Quebec.
My advice is to look very carefully - there might be some real surprises
lurking there.
If I was only allowed to give people one piece of advice about buying
a used truck/car/airplane/boat, it would be:
Don't fall in love with a paint job.
I need to compile a list of short "lessons learned" from my lifetime:
1) look outside
2) let go of the controls
3) get on the attitude indicator
4) don't fall in love with a paint job
5) the harder I work, the luckier I get

Oh I wasn't running out to buy, just thought it was interesting. I ran the tail number and the registration did not make sense to me either.
And now that you mention I have noticed most of the planes in QC are in the OM class and I have found others that the registration info does not match the advertisement.

Reminds me. Old guy across the street from me died. No surprise - badlythe registration info does not match the advertisement.
overweight. Diabetes. Heart trouble.
Anyways, I know I'm not a good person, ok? But he had this four door Honda
parked outside that would probably make someone a fine used car. So I go
over and take a picture of the VIN on the dash - you know, visible through the
windshield from the outside - and it was gone.
Someone had drilled out the rivets and removed the VIN tag. Bye-bye.

Quebec is a strange place when it comes to airplanes. Every time I have seen a derelict plane fire up and take off, it’s nine times out of ten heading to Quebec. Frequently as it seems, some never make it there, or come to grief shortly after their cross country (literally as it were) odessey.TwinOtterFan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 1:19 am

When you read the Aviation Safety Letter and realize that a disproportionate amount of the incidents occur there (if you strictly count the fixed wing occurrences). Like half the accidents in Canada happen there. Seriously.
Makes you wonder if there is some correlation there.

Well, here’s another “low priced” used airplane.
