Reminds me. I was at an airshow with the Chief Test Pilot of the NRC (that I
had previously given some spin training to). He asked me: How did you end up
flying jet fighters? He points out that you can only fly jet fighters if you have
previously flown jet fighters (trained in the military) and it was an oddity that
a numbnuts civilian such as I would end up as the local IP and type rating issuer,
especially given how violently TC despised me.

I told him: All airplanes have wings that push air down, and engines that push
air back. There are some systems associated with the production of lift and
thrust that you can learn about, but really, all airplanes are the same.

I was probably dropped on my head as a small child, but I really don't notice
much difference between props and jets. They all require a ridiculous amount
of money and work to keep flying and like dogs, motorcycles and guns, I love
them all, even the ones that are giant pains in the ass.



The 421 had all the levers all the way forward, and we blew past it like it
was tied to the guardrail :^)
