I got a front seat trip in the Cobra a million years ago.  It was fitted with side controllers that were extremely stiff.  I did a couple take-offs and landings and got to shoot some rounds  and grenades.

Was it as awesome as it looks?

Chuck:

I would have much preferred the back seat (where the pilot sits), but I was happy to get the ride I did.  It would have been much more fun to go out with them on a tactical mission, but we just went to the weapons range and spent some money...

From the front seat, it was heavy on the controls, but I think the front seater would be only flying in an emergency...
