Does anyone care how you get your first 1500 hours?
A friend of mine is left seat on the 747 at Atlas, he says they are over-run with Aussie right seaters - why aren't Canadians there? The older ones are ok, but the younger ones like to mostly preen in their uniforms and take selfies all the time.
Do Canadians not like to fly freight? If you're going to fly one of those big pigs, that would be my choice. I don't give a fuck about turbulence, and the boxes don't complain.
Funny enough I was talking about this on the flight back to YYC last night. We had both noticed more Aussie accents on the radio from US carriers and job ads that stated Australians could apply.
Now my conspiracy theory is the USA and Canada have a backroom handshake deal to not allow Canadians to gain visas as pilots. Why Australians and not Canadians? Well the FL410 wisdom 4 coffees in was that if they allowed a Canuck to commute or fly for a carrier there wouldn’t be anyone left here to fly causing economic chaos.
Hey Donny, I’ve got some ideas on the 51 state, give me a call! I’m sure you’ve heard of the Euro Dollar, I offer you the Amero Dollar!

I flew with a South African a couple weeks ago and he confirmed it’s easy for anyone but a Canadian pilot to get a US visa. The thing about the Aussies specifically is it’s apparently in thanks for their country being first in line to go to war with the US a few years back, or so I’m told. Maybe Nark knows better.
Nark says (see page 1) that some ancient Gulf War deal got all the Aussies here.
PS. I tell people we should annex Alberta only. Culturally and economically it's a good fit. We can call it "Northern Montana". Would be good for all the pilots in AB, too.
45 / 47. You can seize his assets, you can try to put him in jail, you can try to keep him off the ballot, you can try to kill him - but he's our President.
