Just landed in LA. The mountains look beautiful around here.
I’m super amazed it only took 30 minutes to get to the hotel.

Thanks for the expert info Colonel. I actually have an original Haigh locking tailwheel in good condition. Looks like I’m going with that. I read somewhere that Henry Haigh never invented his tailwheel to make the Pitts easier to land. It was to save weight. Making the Pitts easier on the ground was just a byproduct.

Go with that. IIRC they go on this long tube behind the tail. It looks funny but I guess it helps the fuselage act longer?I actually have an original Haigh locking tailwheel in good condition

I ain't asking nobody for nothing, if I can't get it on my own.

Not a fan of Maule tail wheels. I think the Scott is a much better unit

The Maule tailwheel was pretty cool 60 years ago but time has passed it by.
In 1963 a split-window Corvette with a 327 with mechanical fuel injection and drum brakes and a big fuel tank was hot stuff, too. One of them sold for U$600k at Pebble Beach just south of me.
Not sure it’s going to take a C8 Z06/Z07 though.

Ha love it!
Btw complete Maule’s assemblies aren’t cheap….if you can find one. ACS has been sold out for a while. Last time I checked, Aviat was selling an assembly for $1500 US! Ouch.

Hey. Wasn’t APS in Visalia near Fresno? Just down I-5 from me.
I wonder if I could buy their tooling and paperwork?
It was too good to let go out of production
