Or when that lady retired from Air Canada a few years ago and every media outlet called her the first female Commercial Pilot. Which is complete bullshit, plenty of ladies flying for hire well before her but hey first at AC because they only hire the best of the best of the best right. Only they know where to stash the best porn in the Flight deck.

Ya I thought it was odd as well, if I do not include you guys I think I may actually know more female than male pilots, at my old base most of the tac hel pilots I knew were female actually. I guess some people are just stuck in a different world.

I always wondered if as a female they found it insulting that when they achieved the same thing as everyone else it was celebrated like it was something more amazing? Seems almost condescending.

None of the really bad flight instructors I have flown around were female. A couple of the better ones that actually taught me things were.

What a sweet old dear. Did flight tests for my students, always put them at ease.

Lorna deBlicquy retired in 1999 and settled near Carp, Ontario.

She had flown for over 50 years, totalling 10,478 hours in the air, about half of them as a flight instructor.

Some people might not think that’s a lot of hours, but I guess it was enough

Not really appropriate, but I'm not sure she was as good as she could have been, with some more experience.

I've seen that. People thrust into roles they really aren't prepared for, and at first they think they're winning like Charlie Sheen because they got early promotion, but then they realize they are over their head. They (and anyone that depends on them) are in a world of hurt if a real challenge appears.

I know people aren't allowed to say that Amelia was less than perfect, but tough. She's my distant cousin - we are both descended from the Cornells - so too bad.
