Nice airplane. That's how I met Mike Potter, maybe 20 years ago? There
was this airplane parked next to me:

You can see his Beaver on amphibs parked behind it, in that photo.

I used to live on Mississippi Lake - really just a wide river - near Carleton Place,
years ago. Lake Park, I think it was called. A guy - not Mike, I think it was the
construction guys who's name you can't mention - had a Beaver on floats and
man, you could tell when he took off, and not a little flat four. Neighbors hated him.

Carleton Place had this nice grass strip next to the highway, south of the town.
Forget the name of the guy who owned it. Had a Stinson? Here's a picture of us
visiting it. From left to right: R-1340, Kinner, R-985. I think I'm in the Stearman.

This photo was taken from the same place, looking up, on a different day. You
can probably guess who was flying, and worrying about keeping the turbine
spooled up so we didn't sink into the trees at the north end like an Airbus driver.

Canadians don't like aviation, so I left the country permanently after that.

PS. I'm not a very good stick, so I didn't do this:

You can always tell a four bar, but you can't tell him anything.
