movies is Idiocracy
I thought it was a non-fictional documentary?

Back on topic ... I don't expect everyone to be
Bob Hoover.  I just want them to be unhappy
that they can't fly like him, and they have a burning
desire to be better.

Scenario:  you are checking out two pilots.

First pilot flies pretty well, flubs a couple
of things but is happy with his performance.

Second pilot makes more mistakes and is
really pissed off with himself.

I would be happier with the second pilot,
because he's going to do something about
it.

Spot the trend.  PID loop:

It's all about correcting for error.

Has society finally been dumbed down to the point where mediocrity is the accepted norm?...
Because the statements are by and large, not comments on specific trends addressing the topic, they are nasty name calling tirades thrown into
the middle of threads on totally unrelated topics.  Because the impression made by said comments is that nobody these days is as good as
you and your group of peers.  Because when someone does call you (and lets call a spade a spade, you and the Colonel) on it, you resort to making
similarly nasty comments regarding pushing buttons and what the responder (okay, me) does and does not know, while you yourself know absolutely nothing
about said responder - their job, their background, their personality, their skills - nothing.

The many tirades about AvCanada and how they were a whining bunch of babies were annoying enough, but when someone calls you on making
hateful posts on this forum, well what a surprise - you resort to the same sort of complaining that you seemed to look down your nose at on that other forum

Maybe I'd just like to see an intelligent discussion, and yes, with disagreements - sure - even lively ones, but we can all do without the snide asides putting
down entire groups of pilots and the hateful name-calling

I'd just like to see an intelligent discussion
I can only sincerely apologize that we are not
all as educated and bright as you, and for the
resulting poor quality of our discourse.

I'm Queen's University, Mathematics & Engineering.  You?

nasty name calling tirades
Couple of thoughts:

1)  I find it fascinating that you think the "name calling"
applies to you.  Are you sure it does?  If so, well, then
I guess you have a problem.  People shit on "cowboy
pilots" all the time, too.  Doesn't bother me in the least.

2) Grow a thicker skin.  Not everyone loves me, either,
I have seen some nasty corporate politics in my life
and TC Inspectors have been trying to kill me for years,
and I don't cry myself to sleep every night over it.  I
find it fascinating that you think it is important (or even
possible) for everyone to love and admire you.

Like the radical Muslims killing cartoonists in Europe,
you need to learn:

You do not have the right to not be offended

Hey - at least this thread (and the ACTPA one) has changed the "Meet Asian Women" ads to "Managing Workplace Conflict" :)

Nice rant H.F.C.

First off I don't " hate " any of the pilots that are poorly trained, I feel sorry for them.

As to your snide remark about the Colonel and me thinking we are better than everyone else you are doing what you are ranting about, you are labeling someone you have never met with your own myopic label.

We do however have the self worth to post without hiding behind a made up name..
Because the impression made by said comments is that nobody these days is as good as

We need to look a bit closer at the above statement and see if we can validate our thoughts a bit clearer.

The Colonel is very well educated and exceptionally well skilled in flying and teaching flying skills.

Me, well I did not go very far in school, however I have a proven track record in aviation the subject I am discussing, in fact I would feel comfortable in stating my qualifications as a pilot are impressive and I have the licenses to demonstrate several regulators around the world agreed by licensing me to fly and teach under their regulatory bodies.

FAA.....European JAA....CASA...SACAA.  oh I almost forgot Transport Canada.

As to the four bars thing....well I wore them for decades and have tens of thousands of hours flying transport category aircraft.

And of course most important all my flying was accident free.

Anyone else noticed the Irony, where "The Colonel" often refers to "4-bars" in a negative fashion when our current CAF Rank Insignia for Colonel is:

I'm only a lowly 2Lt so I know my place....

Colonel is actually a play on words on
"kernel programmer" but that's probably
not worth mentioning.

you can't be a Cowboy pilot from Ontario
Birth certificate (people make a big deal
of them these days) says "Cold Lake, AB"
When was the last time you were on a horse?
I own more of them than I could ever
want.  My two youngest daughters spend
virtually all their waking hours riding.

Hair look familiar, SSU?  ;D
