Canada should go for good old A-10's to support the Army, or even the Cessna Scorpion if that turns out to be any good for close air support.
And Super Hornets for the rest of the Air Force's tactical needs. Super Hornet would probably be very economical as I am sure it would have overlap from a logistical and training perspective.

An airplane that won't turn and is designed to
drop bombs is not a fighter, it is a bomber.
Why not some truth in advertising and admit
that it is a bomber, and be honest and state
that Canada is choosing to not have fighter
aircraft any more?
What an overpriced piece of shit. I heard the
plan is that since they are so expensive, we
are only going to buy a few and the pilots are
going to get good at flying them in the sim.
Everyone knows a sim is exactly the same
as the real airplane, right? G-forces, etc?
The good news is that there is no politics
involved in the military procurement process
in Canada, which is widely known as efficient
and rapid, always making the best choices
from a technical and financial standpoint.

Someone had experts on TV to say the same. I saw some YT interviews. Is Canada still considering them?

I believe we should be developing our own fighters and most certainly be building something like a long range A-10 for defence/coast guarding as well.
The JSF proponents say Canada is not capable of making something that good.
Of course we aren't. It's not because we are chimps banging rocks together to build bombardiers.
We are simply out of practice building fighting aircraft. I believe we could if we tried.
I suppose we just don't have the ability to work together anymore and get it done.

I think bombardier and Pratt could make a hell of a fighter... or a multi role aircraft.

+1 We need to bring aerospace development back to Canada. There are a lot of creative and talented people in this country.

Why can't we just get
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_F/ ... per_Hornet
instead of some science project.
http://business.financialpost.com/entre ... competence
I can't think of a single large miltary
procurement in the last 50 years that
wasn't completely screwed up.
The same people that implemented
this mindblowing 30 year clusterfuck:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_ ... eplacement
Are going to bring you the F-35.
For those of us in the private sector,
this public sector bumbling is a grotesque
joke, right out of some British comedy
like Monty Python, Yes Minister or
Faulty Towers.
What is just wild is that they have no
shame - merely entitlement, like the
buffoons and thieves in the Senate.
