Looking at some young candidate, I am less interested in
his current knowledge and skills, and more interested in
1) how fast he can learn new knowledge and skills
2) character
If someone doesn't have a lot of experience, but is sharp as
a tack and has mountains of integrity and a work ethic, he's
our guy.
If someone has buckets of experience but can't learn new
stuff and is a sleazeball, I don't want him in the building.
I guess it depends if you're looking at short term or long
term.
