Been a long time!  You wouldn't believe
my current gig.

You might be surprised what I would, or would not believe.  But I think a lot of folks would do a double take if they saw my current gig too.

How's life for you these days G.E.?

Glad you found this forum because this is where the P.C. lepers came from the other site.

Life's good chuck, how about you ?  Are you still in YCD ?

We moved a couple years back, now just south of CYBL, believe it or not, I bought a farm.  It was a perfect place to have a cub in the back yard until some idiot (me) put 8 foot fences around the back part of the property to keep critters out.  I've got 500' of perfectly level grass in the back lot, I thought long and hard about putting a super cub into the back yard.  But this part of the island isn't like the interior, not a lot of places to go with a cub on wheels.

Yes I am still here looking out over Nanaimo and Long Lake I will probably croak here.

I will be going to YBL in the motorhome in the next week or so, we should get together.

You don't fly " somewhere " in a Cub, you just fly.  :)

Being that I'm only allowed one airplane in this exercise it's got to be able to wear more than one hat.  A Marchetti SF 260 would seem to be a pretty good combination of aerobatic thrills (+6/-3G), cross country performance (175 KT cruise, 700 NM range), and ex-military sex appeal (available with or without hard points).

That can be a slippery slope.  An airplane
designed to do more than one thing can
end up very expensive and heavy and often
ends up doing nothing well.

No names mentioned, but ...

Imagine you want an airplane that will

- do aerobatics
- carry a good load
- serious IFR
- long distance

You're going to end up with this:

That looks fun but whoooo wee, it's going to be thirsty! Four big turbines...

Right - you need to go tube & fabric with a four
cylinder continental.  Cheapest flying around.

Won't burn much gas and you can repair the
paint cracks with a tiny bottle of clear nail polish,
just don't tell the AvCan weenies or they will
report you to TC (I am not making this up)

Get a continental engine so internal corrosion
isn't such a huge problem.  I flew a little TCM
engine a while back, it had sat for 10 years
and had 3500TT on it.  Ran great.  Try that
with a Lycoming.

You just need to wangle some hangarage.

It doesn't matter what elderly tube & fabric
taildragger you choose - cub, supercub, champ,
chief, t-craft - they are all the same.

Keep an eye on barnstormers for an old guy
that's lost his medical or died.  Morbid, I know,
but I know vultures that have picked up hardware
from widows for obscenely low dollars.  Get a
package deal of stuff - take everything off her
hands, sell off the parts you don't want for more
than you paid her for the package and you'll get
an airplane for free.

Took the offspring to a COPA kids event today. The boy and I got a ride in a helicopter.

I was offered a ride then turned out too fat. I asked what plane he was flying. "A 152." I said I don't know if I can get in one anymore. Even if I lost weight my shoulders are not going to shrink.

Speaking of ratting out people and rats in general Colonel we should invite CID over here to interact with us again.  :) :)

I see he is lonely over on Avcanada now that most of their experienced people have been booted or left.
