Hey all!
I figured I would just check in, it has been a hot minute. I was able to finish CPL written, and flight test, and did my 300xc last month, just have about 18 hours of time building left then onto the instructor rating. I had to step away multiple times do to schooling issues and financial issues of course and unfortunately my wife suffered some fairly serious service injuries ( she is still in the military ) but I am still slowly trucking along. Not at the pace I would have liked but what can ya do.
How is everyone else? I missed coming on here and chatting aviation and other such topics. I ended up signing back up for service myself and have been working at 408 squadron at CFB Edmonton on the Griffon (Bell 412) Its been fun and keeps me close to aviation.
Hey Everyone

Welcome back!
Great that you’re within sight of the finish line. Even if you never do anything with your CPL it’s great to have done. Hope your wife’s on the mend.
I can’t speak for anyone else, least of all the current torrent of Russian bots, but all’s well in my part of the world. Work is on easy mode it seems so I’ve been bidding reserve, politely declining as many trips as I can, and generally hanging out with small airport people and working on airplanes. I know complaining is in vogue but it feels like I won the lottery.

Oh ill get there, going to do my CFI and start instructing. I loved mentoring the junior medics back in the army and have no doubt I will love teaching aviation as well.
Wife's injuries are unfortunately permanent. The only silver lining is she will be medically released and allowed to retire in a couple years. So once that happens we plan to move back to Ontario and I would love to fly for Ornge.
So bidding reserve eh? I'm trying to remember last time I was on here we're you not instructing?

Good to be back,
They are relentless on almost any system anymore. It is ridiculous.

I doubt I was still working for a flight school at the time but I did keep my head in teaching in some way or another until I started at some big national airline. These days I’m totally out of any kind of teaching with no intent to return in the foreseeable future. I do enjoy training but I just don’t like the training department’s inner mechanics that I’ve seen and I know I’m not the one who’s going to fix it.TwinOtterFan wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 12:30 am So bidding reserve eh? So for now I’m doing domestic narrowbody flying on the baby bus, left seat and loving it.
It sounds like you’re going to like instructing and if you get on with Ornge some day you’ll probably like that too. I used to work for an operator that had an Ornge contract, dealt with their head office a fair bit, and I saw they’ve grown into a real stand up company.
